In 2013 the American Heart Association found that there were 359,400 incidence of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) that took place outside of a hospital. Of these cases, they found that there was only a 9.5% overall survival rate. SCA occurs when the heart develops an abnormal pattern of beating, known as arrhythmias, which can causes it to suddenly stop beating.
