Maintaining A Healthy Heart: How To Avoid Sudden Cardiac Arrest

In 2013 the American Heart Association found that there were 359,400 incidence of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) that took place outside of a hospital. Of these cases, they found that there was only a 9.5% overall survival rate. SCA occurs when the heart develops an abnormal pattern of beating, known as arrhythmias, which can causes it to suddenly stop beating. Without the delivery of oxygenated blood to the body, a person can die within minutes of the heart ceasing to beat.
